Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Your strength and love for your baby are something I plan to honor and cherish for the rest of our lives should you choose me. I cannot imagine how difficult this choice must be for you. I want you to know I see this as such a gift, and I would spend the rest of my life ensuring your child receives nothing but love and encouragement. I believe wholeheartedly that being an involved parent is what helps children build confidence to achieve their goals. I will be there for the great moments as well as the difficult ones.

I want you to know this sacrifice you are considering making is not taken lightly. It is the most selfless act of love I will ever have a chance to witness and be a part of. Even though you do not know me yet, I know with all of my heart that our paths were meant to connect. I hope you find comfort in knowing my heart is not only open to your child but to you as well. I will never be able to express my gratitude for what you are doing by considering me. You would be making my dream of a family come true, and for that I will be forever grateful.

My Story

I am a true caretaker at heart, both in my personal life and in my career. I have owned my audiology practice for almost ten years now. I diagnose and treat hearing loss and enjoy every bit of helping my patients enjoy a better quality of life. I have been lucky to incorporate my work life with parenting as my five-year-old son has been at work with me since he was six weeks old. I have a playroom set up for him in my office and have not missed any of his important moments while building a great life for us. I call the woman I work with his “bonus mom.” As my best friend, she has been such an important source of love and support in our lives. She is such a huge reason I feel confident to do this again on my own.

 My Extended Family

I am extremely close with my family and make sure to see my parents at least once a week, if not more. My immediate family consists of my mother, stepdad, father, and stepmom. Everyone has been extremely excited about and supportive of my decision to adopt!

I also consider myself to be lucky enough to have friends whom I consider family! Their children are also a huge part of my life and have allowed me to experience the feeling of being an “aunt.” I was an only child, which is another reason I feel such a strong desire to give my son a sibling. I always hoped for one myself. Although my parents divorced when I was young, I never felt the negative effects many describe from it because they worked hard to still raise me as a team. I am thankful for this in so many ways!

We vacation with each side of my family every single year, from camping to beach trips. We cannot wait to experience all of these traditions with a new baby to love and a sibling for my son to enjoy it with!

 My Home

I was born and raised in the town we call home. Our family and friends are all within minutes of us. We live in a quiet neighborhood. I love nothing more than looking out our back window to see my son and multiple others running and playing in our backyard while I cook dinner. We have a sweet 15-year-old Yorkie named Marley. Our home is very important to us, and we host lots of fun occasions. We have a large porch we enjoy sitting on in the evenings while talking about our day. We are constantly making memories in our kitchen together. My son has finally mastered the art of flipping his own pancakes! We can’t wait to share those fun moments.

 My Journey to Adoption

I have known from a very young age that my main calling in life was to be a mother. I was blessed to experience motherhood five years ago when my son was born. His father and I were not cut out to give him the life he truly deserved by staying together, so I built up the courage to do it on my own when he was only a year old. The hardest part of this choice was me giving up on my dream to give him a sibling and to experience motherhood again. After four years of healing, I made the choice to pursue adoption, not just for myself but for my son. He is so excited to be a big brother. We have such an abundance of love to share.
