Dear Birthmom

First and most importantly, we would like to thank you for considering helping us fulfill our dream of being parents. The ache for a child has been with both of us for quite some time. We have established the beginnings of a family and are in a stable position to raise a happy and healthy baby. The reality of this huge milestone finally coming true brings us so much joy, and you could be the reason it’s happening. Truly, thank you.

With that said, we cannot begin to imagine the varying emotions you’ve felt on this journey, and we sympathize wholeheartedly, knowing you’re considering a tough choice. The best we can offer is the promise that we will raise your baby with as much love and affection as humanly possible and hopefully in a way that would make you proud. We’ve selected an open adoption because we want to raise our child with them knowing where they came from and, if you’re open to it, knowing you.

The future is an unpredictable place full of questions and uncertainty…which is, frankly, a little intimidating. But we find that our future feels more hopeful, joyful, and purposeful knowing we could get the honor of showing love and life to this child. We hope you can trust us to raise this baby with a love for life, knowledge, and adventure!

Our Story

We met in October 2019, having seen each other on the LGBTQI+ flag football league on which we both played. After matching on Tinder, a cute first date, and discovering our mutual fondness for dad jokes, we’ve been inseparable since! In the years we’ve been together, we’ve developed mutual outdoor hobbies, including gardening (veggies, fruit, herbs, flowers…you name it), hiking, and camping. We also love DIY home improvement projects, pottery, knitting, art, and visiting local vintage shops. When we aren’t busy with projects, we spend quality time with close friends trying out new restaurants and bars or staying at home for a game night or reading a good book. Braden works in project management for a medical company. Jeremy is Vice President of Marketing for a student housing company.

 Our Extended Family

Jeremy has a twin brother in Idaho, and they are two peas in a pod! His brother is married and has four children, ages 4-11, whom we spoil and love to pieces. His sister lives in Oregon and has a passion for social justice; she is an excellent advocate for almost any cause. Jeremy’s parents live in Florida and are maybe even more excited about the adoption than we are. (They love having grandchildren.) His mother is retired and will visit frequently to smother the baby in kisses and impart all her maternal wisdom. We’re a silly family with a passion for pranks, humor, and adventure.

Braden’s family all live in West Texas. He has one younger brother, an older brother with two teenagers, and an older sister with two younger children (eight and ten years old). Both of Braden’s parents are retired and enjoy spending time with their family. His family is very musically talented, so we’re hoping to impart some of their musical skills in the baby’s life.

Outside of family, we pride ourselves on our close friendships and have a tight network of friends in Texas whom we consider family.

 Our Home

We live at the end of a peaceful cul-de-sac with tons of trees and wildlife. Six of our neighbors have children of varying ages who are always out and about playing with each other. Our four-bedroom, two-bathroom home is a charming mid-century modern meets ranch style on half an acre with a lot of green space, gardens, and a playground! We’re a short drive to the city but also have easy access to the country for the more outdoorsy excursions. There is a neighborhood park just a quick walk up the road and access to numerous hiking trails nearby. We have two dogs ( a Vizsla and Frenchie), a cat (Tate…he’s basically a dog), and six chickens we’ve had since they were all babies.

 Our Journey to Adoption

For both of us, having a child has never been a question of if but when. With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we feel even more certain that this path toward parenthood is the best for us, fulfilling our desire to be fathers while also contributing in a positive manner to a very real societal need. Adoption hits close to home for us as Jeremy, too, was adopted by his father and our niece was adopted. We’ve seen firsthand how special adoption is and the difference it can make in a life.
