Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mom,

The first thing we want to say is this: thank you.

Thank you. If it was not for you, we could not build our family. If you choose us, please know you will always be a part of it — as much as you want to be.

We cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you, but we hope to support you and include you. Your act of selflessness and the desire to find the best home for your baby cannot be denied. We want you to please take comfort in knowing that we intend, from the bottom of our hearts, to be the best parents to your child. We both grew up in loving and supportive homes, remaining very close to our parents and siblings and we have a strong support group who are incredibly excited to welcome your child into our family. Your child will always know about you, and he or she will never feel less than because we did not conceive him or her ourselves. It was you who helped to make our family complete.

We promise your child will have a life of love, encouragement, security, and joy, and we will always be there, no matter what challenges may come our way.

Thank you again for the decision you are considering. You will make this choice from a place of love, compassion, and strength, all principles that we will instill into your child — OUR child. Thank you for trusting us.

With love and respect,
Jesse and Lacey

Our Story

Hello! We are Jesse and Lacey Raymond. We met online in 2018, were engaged in 2019, and married in 2020 at the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in Massachusetts. We are a caring couple who do our best to make the world a better place.

Jesse is a land preservationist, and Lacey works for a non-profit that provides affordable (and mobile) veterinary care to cats. She is also a tour guide at a Revolutionary War-era museum in town. In our spare time, we enjoy road trips to new places, the beach, attending concerts, hikes with our rescue dog, Poppy, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends, family, and our 3 rescued cats. Jesse is determined to play the keyboard again, and Lacey has taken up the violin — we strongly feel it is never too late to try new things!

 Our Extended Family

Jesse is the third child of all boys. His mother had 2 sisters and 2 brothers, and his father had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Family gatherings were year round. Whether it was a birthday, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, or the Fourth of July, there was always a reason to get together. Growing up, his cousins were his closest friends and he would always look forward to the next party or picnic, and they remain close today.

Lacey is an only child raised by a single mother, but her grandparents (on her Mom's side) lived next door and her aunt on the same street. She grew up on a farm with rescued horses, goats, cats, and dogs in a town that is only a few minutes from the beach. Her family still lives there and her Mom cannot wait to introduce the horses to her grandbaby. Her Mom likes to joke that Lacey could "ride" a horse and swim before she could walk. Lacey's family likes to say that the family is small, but mighty! They have always been her support system and are excited to add another member to the family.

 Our Home

We live in a small historical city in eastern Connecticut, between Boston and NYC. It is richly diverse and has plenty to see and do with a strong sense of community. Our neighborhood is the perfect place to raise a child. There are children playing outside all the time, we have great neighbors, and it is the go-to for trick-or-treating! Our yard is spacious and fenced in with a beautiful garden. It's the perfect yard for our dog, Poppy, who loves to play with everyone she meets — and will be the perfect spot for a swingset! The house is bright with an open layout and we work to make it feel comfortable and inviting. We have 3 adorable cats, Mitts, Archer, and Dorothy.

 Our Journey to Adoption

Since we were married in 2020, we have dreamed of expanding our family. After trying for years and meeting with a fertility doctor, we realized we could not have biological children and decided to begin the process of adoption! We know we will provide a warm and loving household. Lacey's cousin, Samantha, was adopted as a newborn and grew up in such a caring and supportive home — we are confident that we, too, can provide the same security, encouragement, and love that she experienced.
