Our story began in Washington, D.C., where we were both living and working at the time. Our very first date was to a Washington Nationals game, and from that day on, baseball became part of our story. What started as a simple evening out quickly grew into something much bigger—we instantly felt at home with each other, laughing, talking, and discovering how much we had in common.

As our relationship grew, so did the adventures. We spent weekends exploring D.C., cheering on the Nationals, taking long walks through neighborhoods, and finding new favorite restaurants. Some of our best memories are the simplest ones—quiet nights at home. Through it all, we discovered how much joy we found just being side by side.

Now, after nine years together and seven years married, our love is stronger than ever. We are truly best friends, partners, and teammates in everything we do. Our relationship is built on laughter, trust, and unconditional love, and we are so excited to welcome another child into the family and into the love story we are still writing together.

Family is a huge part of our lives, and we feel so lucky to be surrounded by so much love and support. Aiden has two great-grandmothers, plus his grandma and grandpa, who happily spoil him whenever they get the chance. On Ashby’s side, holidays and birthdays are always celebrated together when possible, with Christmas Eve being a long-standing tradition from her childhood that still continues today. In recent years, Ashby and Andrew have hosted Christmas morning in their home, a tradition that brings the whole family together. Ashby’s parents live just 45 minutes away in the house where she grew up, and her brothers are close by as well, so visits are frequent and filled with laughter. On Andrew’s side, Thanksgiving and Christmas are also cherished, and growing up in California with two brothers and an adopted sister meant endless adventures—from skiing in the mountains to surfing on the beach. Though Andrew’s parents are still in California, his brother works for an airline, allowing them to fly often and visit Aiden regularly. One of our favorite memories was renting a beach house in Massachusetts where both sides of the family gathered for a week of fun, relaxation, and plenty of spoiling Aiden.

We feel so lucky to call our house home—a cozy and spacious three-bedroom that’s ready for another little one to join our family! What makes it even more special is our neighborhood, which truly feels like an extension of our family. Right next door, our sweet neighbors have two children who adore playing with Aiden, and it’s common to see the kids running around outside while the parents relax and chat in the backyard. Across the street, our best friends live with their adorable twins, giving Aiden built-in playdates just steps away. Our neighborhood also has a playground we can walk to, a pool for summer afternoons, and wonderful families who always look out for one another. It’s a supportive, loving community we feel grateful to call home.

Adoption has always been close to our hearts. On Andrew’s side of the family, he grew up with an adopted sister, so the beauty of adoption has been part of his story since childhood. Seeing the love and bond within his own family showed us that family is built through love, not just biology.

After becoming parents to our son, Aiden, our desire to adopt only grew stronger. We know how much joy and laughter a child brings into a home, and we are so excited to share that love with another little one.

For us, adoption means creating a safe, loving space where a child knows their story, knows how deeply they are loved, and knows that their birth family will always be honored as part of who they are.
