Dear Birthmom

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to get to know the two of us. We recognize the choice that you are making is, what we can only imagine, one of the most difficult choices that you could face in your lifetime. Entrusting your child to be raised by someone else requires incredible bravery, strength, and most of all, selfless love for your child. We admire you for choosing life and considering adoption! Regardless of your final decision, know that we are praying for you, this child, and that God will give you peace in whatever decision you make.

Since early on in our relationship, we wanted to grow our family. We have had a heart for adoption since the beginning. We initially chose the route of fostering children through the foster care system, with the hopes of adoption. While we were unable to adopt through that route, we loved each child that came through our home. Each of those children will always hold a special place within our hearts. Ultimately, we still have a heart for children and cannot wait to fall in love with another child that we can call ours, forever.

We feel extremely honored to be considered by you as adoptive parents, and hope that you can see the love we have for one another, our family, and all the children in our lives through our story and pictures.

-Matthew and Kelsea

Our Story

We enjoy many outdoor activities, such as fishing, biking, hiking, and we love to travel! Our farm and animals bring us much joy. We take many spontaneous weekend trips to the beach. We enjoy fun game nights with both family and friends – playing various card games is one of our favorite indoor activities. We love acting goofy together! Oftentimes, we dance and sing in the kitchen while cooking together. We do enjoy many calm weekends at home too. For a calm evening, we enjoy quiet nights relaxing around a campfire or simply watching tv.

We choose to honor God in all that we do, so we consider our Christian faith of utmost importance to us. We plan to raise our future child in the ways of the Lord. “Raise a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” –Proverbs 22:6

 Our Extended Family

We have a large support system. We live close to Kelsea’s parents and they are very involved in our lives. We are very close to Kelsea’s mom. There is not a day that goes by that we do not speak to her, and we make it a point to see her, in-person, a minimum of twice a week. Also, all of Kelsea’s extended family lives within 30 minutes of us, so we see them frequently as she has a very tight-knit family.

Matthew’s parents live out of state, so naturally, we do not see them as frequently. However, we do maintain regular contact – texting, calling, and facetiming with them. His siblings live within a few hours of us though, so we meet with them regularly. We see his siblings and their children at least monthly. Many of the young children you will see in the photos are our nieces and nephews from his side of the family.

Aside from family, we have a large network of support from church and family friends. Our friend’s kids call us Aunt Kelsea and Uncle Matt, so we consider them more like family than friends, but nonetheless, they are a part of our circle. We attend a small church life group every other Friday night, in addition to regular Sunday services, so we have a support group within our church as well.

 Our Home

We live on a small farm in a 3-bedroom brick home. We have a large yard and long, paved driveway with lots of room to run and play with no fear of traffic. We have a tree swing overlooking our pastures that Kelsea sits in almost daily to enjoy the view. We have many animals - all of which stay outside. We currently have one dog, one cat, seven cows, four pigs, and two goats.

We have developed close friendships with our neighbors too. They are always willing to help out anytime a need arises – mostly with an animal on the loose. Our neighbors each have children, all under the age of 5, so I’m certain there will be many playdates in the future.

We live within a 30-minute drive to a city in any direction. There is a mall, movie theater, bowling alley, putt-putt course, Walmart, and many grocery stores within that 30-minute drive.

 Our Journey to Adoption

From Kelsea – Matthew is hard working, dependable, and always shows the most selfless and unconditional kind of love. I admire him most because he will do anything to go out of his way to help someone. He gives his best in all that he does. I am confident that he will love any child that is placed in his arms.

From Matthew - What I love about Kelsea is that she is so sweet and kind. Kelsea treats every person and child with kindness and compassion. She always tries to make you feel special and important. I know that any kid that comes into our home is going to be so loved and cherished by Kelsea because no matter what the task or the person, Kelsea gives it her all with every bit of her heart!
