Dear Birthmom
Dear Birthmom
We know there is no way to fully understand or appreciate the weight of the decision you are facing, but please know how deeply we respect your strength and thoughtfulness. What we can promise is that, if you choose us, we will do anything and everything in our power to love, support, and cherish your child. We are incredibly grateful for the life we have built and have been fortunate to see firsthand how strong, loving, and successful families of all kinds can be.
We have already been blessed through adoption and feel unbelievably lucky to be parents. We also feel fortunate to be able to maintain a positive and open line of communication with our daughter’s birth mother. Becoming a family in this way has been one of the greatest joys of our lives, and it has only strengthened our hearts and our commitment to growing our family again. We are excited, hopeful, and still a little nervous to take this next step, but we know the love, patience, and dedication to parenthood will only grow. We cannot wait for our child to welcome a sibling and to watch their bond unfold as they grow together. Our joy will be watching them discover their joy.
We hope you will consider trusting us with the opportunity to love, care for, and provide for your child. If you do choose our family, please know we will always be grateful to you and forever committed to honoring your child and the incredible love that brought them into our lives.

Our Story
We first met in law school through mutual friends, beginning as friends ourselves, and becoming closer and closer until we were best friends. One evening, Alex arrived at Ashley’s apartment with a proposal to go out on a date. Alex made sure that it was a special one, worthy of Ashley: a tour of nearby wineries and a picnic with all of Ashley’s favorite snacks. Just six months later, in Rome, while attending the wedding of the very friends who had brought us together, Alex proposed (with the couple’s blessing of course). Soon after, we bought a condo and made a home together. We were married on New Year’s Eve overlooking the White House, and 8 years later, our love has only grown richer, deeper, and now with our daughter we are happier than ever.
Our Extended Family
We are lucky to have very close relationships with both of our extended families. Alex’s mother, father, brother, and sister live nearby and we spend a lot of time together. Whether it’s going out to eat, playing games in our backyard (or MarioKart inside when it’s cold! We love games!), or just hanging out.
While Ashley’s mother, father, sister, and two adorable nephews are not local, we visit them often and make an effort to spend time together around the holidays. We also go on vacation together every year, including a biannual trip to Hawaii. Even when we aren’t together, you can find us texting up a storm in the group chat and FaceTiming with our nephews, who like to ask us about video games and show us their latest Lego creations.
Our families and all of our friends could not have been happier when we adopted our daughter Ainsley. We are so fortunate to have the support of our families, but our loyal friends.

Our Home
We were lucky to build our dream home in Virginia with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a beautiful yard (Alex is very proud of his yard work!) in December 2020. Our home is in a family oriented neighborhood known for its walkable streets and strong community ties. There is a beloved annual Fourth of July parade and potluck, so many trick-or-treaters we regularly run out of candy, and spectacular holiday decorations - including our house!
We are within walking distance of several parks, beautiful trails, shops, and restaurants. We have loved exploring our neighborhood on long walks with our daughter. We are also minutes from Washington, D.C., and all of the museums, monuments, and activities it has to offer.

Our Journey to Adoption
Becoming a parent through adoption has been the greatest joy of our lives. When we welcomed our daughter, Ainsley, as a newborn, we were deeply humbled by the trust placed in us and committed ourselves wholeheartedly to honoring her story. Watching her grow has filled our days with laughter, learning, and so much love (and a few extra cups of coffee).
Adoption has shaped our family in meaningful ways and reinforced the values we hold dear: patience, openness, and unconditional support. Adoption has proven to us what we already knew, love matters more than anything else. We feel incredibly grateful for the journey we’ve already shared and are excited, hopeful, and eager to open our hearts again to another child.
